Scrick cams timed to the same as Renault cams!

My Schrick cams are timed to the same as the Renault cams and the car does not feel right, do the cams have to be timed forward a notch from the standard renault setting?....... If you know where i'm coming from!

they will be ground to be timed completely standard using the locking tools. Did you check the de-phaser solenoid is plugged in yet? are you sure you did the timing procedure right? just doing it out of sequence can throw the timing out

yes everyting has been put back correctly, timing procedure was correct, and the locking tools were used.

it just doesnt feel like it did prior to the work being carried out. the car itself is running ok, But I know the car isn't right as it is no longer lumpy at lower revs (with these race cams it definetley should be), Because of the extra power prior to the work being carried out the car would torque steer in first and second. It does not do that anymore either! I am not going to drive it hard until I get it looked at by K-Tech, Yozza or GDI!

reading the other thread it sounds like all was ok running these cams until you changed the cambelt, that correct? If so it can only be something not set right or the de-phaser isn't functioning which is why i mentioned the solenoid

is there anyway the map could have been set back to standard?

I don't know mate I am not ruling it out!

And Danny, I took the car apart again today and double checked everything and everything is in place, The only real problem I would run into is if the cams are tweaked differently from the Renault ones. I should have gone to Mike at Rentech :(

The car was running sweet as a nut! I loved it! Now it is 100% not picking up like it was. I have plugged it in and it is not reading any problems at all! But I don't think unless the timing was really out it wouldn't make much difference anyway!
How or what has to be done to put the ECU back to standard?

hard to tell without having the car infront of me at this point tbh. I'd be looking for broken sensors, pinched fuel line, inlet gasket leak (or other vac leak) then back to check the timing again

I have the SMT piggyback ECU!
This is getting on my nob now!

might be worth doing a re-set on the standard ECU then, the self learning can start to interfere after a while. Give us a call at GDI again tomorrow and we'll try to help with it, but do the checks i listed above first and see if you find anything :)

give it some time till ECU learns the cams. Do not push it so hard before the first 1000 miles.

were they installed previously? if so something else happened, if you just got them installed then above ^^^ still there.
