i know a few people have fitted them, mine arrived today but its to long and there are bits sticking up in the middle on top, how do i fit it nice and snug, thanks

Trim the ends and cut the middle bits off.

and then just self tapp them isit??

Tape it in place first, it's easier to pre-drill some small holes, and just use self tappering screws like you say.
