Seat Spacers

  200 Gordini
As people know, you can remove the spacers to lower the seat height like so:

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=394660

But this means you cant move the seats back and forward because the slides catch on the carpet, people have gone to the extremes of cutting the carpet... but not anymore

What i done with my Recaros is put 2 little washers under the seats where each spacer used to be, this still lowers the seats a big amount but not as much as no spacers (obviously) and you can freely move the seats.

I'd say 2/4 weeks after using the washers and moving the seat back and forward every now and again REMOVE all the washers to lower the seat height even more.

You'll find the carpet has flattened enough for the seats to still move without the spacers or washers, all be it at first a bit stiffer than usual.

Can this be done without jacking the car up? Could i reach underneath and feel for the bolts?

You'll need to jack the front up. You will be able to do the outside two but you need to jack it up to reach into the exhaust heat shield at the middle of the car

It's hard to get under the car to begin with and if you're lowered by 40mm you're gonna ache after you've finished! I'm only slim as well, so I don't find it as bad as some people. I could have both seats out in about 15-20mins now as I'm used to it, but it took me longer first time round. The outside bolts of each seat are easy; the inside bolts are hidden away above the exhaust heat shield. There are holes in it to get to them, but obviously with them being where they are and further under the car they're more awkward. If you have axle stands I'd take full advantage of them tbh.

yeah i can see the 2 nearest to the door, no idea where the other two are. is it worth getting a torch of just feeling for them.

Doesn't need to be jacked up just lay on your back and have a feel around for some holes in the exhaust heat sheild as thats where the nuts are.

are the holes actually in the exhaust heat shield or watever it called. done that today and couldnt find them. obviously they are level with the 2 near the door but dont know how far in they are ?

Best to have a feel around before you go in with the socket and ratchet. Feel for holes in the heat shield and then have a go with the 13mm

The other thing to note, I did this on my standard height 172 without jacking, and me and B5 BDJ just did it on his MK2 Ph2 lowered 35mm ish without jacking

oh good so it is possible then. Yeah i dont want to go and undo some random bolt then not knowing wat ive un done. are all the 4 holes 13mm? what is the heat shield also?

The heatsheild is the thin metal thats above the exhaust.

Also note that the holes do not line up with the ones by the door. Look at where they are on the seat to get an idea of where they are in relation to the other 2.
