semi-auto wipers???

My wipers need to be operated via the stalk, once used the once they sense the rain and work automatically - Is this normal?

er, if you mean you need to have switched on to "automatic" i.e. one click down on the switch then yeah, this is normal - mine are the same.

My stalk is always in the automatic position, but I need to move it and then put it back to auto for the wipers to work initially,.. Is that normal?

Do other people's wipers just come on when it rains?

Hmm I can't remember. All I know is that they hardly ever seem to come on when I want them to - i.e. approaching a roadabaout - and they always go crazy when it's hardly raining!

Though I was quite impressed with them last time I was on the motorway and it was raining.

My experience is the same as your's John. If you leave them in Auto mode when it's not raining, they need to be reminded by toggling off and on when it next does ... then they work fine. Must admit I've had auto wipers on other cars and the Renault ones are by far the best :approve:

John - me too. I've read a technical explanation of it somewhere but can't remember where... Has been like this from new.

They reset when you turn the ignition off and back on again, so yes, you will need to reset the switch.

If it stops raining and dries up, then starts raining again, the wipers will come back on automatically provided you have not turned the ignition off.

It's normal, think it says this in the manual iirc.

The annoying thing for me is the rear wiper which smears crap across your back window if you put it in reverse when you're in this mode!

This is normal and is to stop damage from frozen wipers.
