I own a series 1 rs turbo and a 182 and the clio is quicker.Cant compare standard ones 132bhp vs 180 ish,but if your mate modifies your in trouble dont think he would ever beat you in the bends though 20 years advanced technology.

Wrong...Get a good suspension set up and near 200 bhp and the RST would win easy.

As said, in standard form, the 182. An RST with a decent suspension set up and some engine mods would have a 182.

LOL mates S2 RS Turbo could not stay with my 309 GTI round the bends back in the day when they where not that old. - Escorts do not handle well.

Series1's and Rs 1600i do as they were the homologation specials and have a different front suspension set up to the series2 which was the softer marketing mans version

As per the other replies standard v standard the 182 is going to be quicker. If you take it to the extreme a robin reliant would be quicker than an F1 car if you strapped a jet engine onto it.

If the cars are modded the quoted performance figures go out of the window, so its track time.
