Service interval / costs!!

I know that this has been done to the death but;

Just spoke to Camden Renualt in MK (btw, anyone had good/bad experience of them?) and service has been quoted as 12k or 2 years (as per the Renault maint service book) Others say 12k/1yr but they insist 2yrs which suits me as the car is 12months old in a wk or 2 and is on 9k.

The laugh is the price £229:eek:. I have asked how much if I supply oil as as I have a ITG airfilter I wont need there oe part & they are calling me back. I recon that I am going to buy the genuine Renault service parts (oil & pollen filter) and get an independant to do it as apart from these all the rest are checks.

How ffs can they justify £229??? Some 18yr old geek will no doubt do the work, thrash the car around a bit, & give it back to me. My Subaru is only £170 for the same service inc all the oils & parts, £120 ish if I supply the oil.

I paid £149 for my first service and its 1yr 12k not 2 yrs, the 2yrs ones are the 18k non renaultsport models.

If you dont have it done you will invalidate your warranty and im sure they will say they never said it was 2 years when it came down to they having to pay for the warranty work!

Dave, that is more like it price wise. Re the service interval, I have my service book in front of me. Page 3.

Maintenace service every 12 000 miles (20k) or every 2 years depending on which is reached first

Clio 2.0 16V (Renault Sport) Vel Satis V6 dCi & 3.5 V6

Clio V6 Espace IV V6 3.0 dCi & 35V6

all the other clios are listed @ 18k / 2 yrs.

I would like to see Renault wrigging out of a warrenty claim on this!

I am surprised, I was always under the impression that it was 1 year, not that it bothered me, i hit 12k in about 8 months!

There does seem to be a lot of difference in the prices, it seem to work that the further north you travel the cheaper it gets as with most things.

My price was from a midlands garage, although for my 36k i am going to a renault specialist as Renault will want something stupid like £350 whereas my local specialist only was £90, no brainer really as with using the correct parts there is no problem with warranty.

Just spoke with the local garage that I use for oil changes etc & he has quoted me 1.5hrs (£60 +vat) + parts. Oil, filters I will get so I recon £100 ish all in:D. Renault can stick it up there over priced arses. I will prob do at 12 months anyway, belt & braces then!

They changed the spec from 12k/1yr to 12k/2yr servicing I cannot remember when it was either just at the end of the 172 or on release of the 182.

So some books say 1yr some say 2. Your dealership should know which your car is.
