servicing a 182 can be cheap,

Anyone selling a car on here can expect a fellow "enthusiast" to be buying, the potential purchaser either already knows the drill with Renault (Incompentent) and can expect an FSH elsewhere, why the sudden praise for Renault?

Didn't notice anyone complimenting renault apart from people who recieve their wages from them lol :)

I agree with Danny, f*ck Renault, my experience with them/knowing a few from the local dealership personally leads me to believe they're all f*cking muppets. I'd much rather buy one from an enthusiast on here who knows what needs done and when and has looked after it.

Mine will be going in soon purely to keep the warranty stuff in check, soon as it comes back from them it'll be getting the oil drained and filter replaced again by me and I'll stick some good stuff in, as I've no doubt they'll fill it up with cheap sh*t.

Robbing c*nts.

What I'm saying is not all Renault garages are Incompetent. I work for Renault and can assure you that no car leaves our place without being correctly serviced.

I had enough of Renault when they said "you can't get a 2lt Clio sir" and another said "no Clio has a front lower grille"

But Birchdown came from working for Renault so there Is 2 sides to everything.

I had enough when they quoted me £380 for the base of that s**tty standard steering wheel that falls apart (and that's no airbag or cruise control buttons included) and £100 for both front wheel arch liners for one wheel!

If not all, then most are totall c***s. Ive owned 3 Clio's now, my first Clio was serviced by Renault once, never again.

This, testamony to what we already know, is true. An enthusiast out and out speaks the truth!

Its ashame Renault's parts/service programme is grossly mis-calculated given that their hot-hatches are so good :(

The main problem with renault dealer's are the prices they charge. I remember my dad took my old 1.2 for the bonnet check as i was at work, he doesnt know anything about cars an probably made that clear when he went...they said ur sons car has no oil in and charged him £60, i was f**king fuming
Also when i went with my 182 and was told i needed 2 clips on my cv boots they said it would be £35 each side and juat for a clip hahahaaa, ok then
Apreciate you lads sticking up for them, ur right not everyone should be tared with the same brush and you may take pride in youre work, what lets people like you down are the other muppets who mess up/lie and get found out...oh, and the prices the guy with the clean shirt and tie sitting at the desk give lol

Spot on! The prices are ridiculous!

Also things like this don't help us out:

(customer) When i took my car to renault for a service they didnt change my oil filter

(workshop controller) i assure you sir we did

(customer) no look, you said it would look brand new,you said its blue with a silver ring

(workshop controller) yes sir its there

(customer) why is it silver and covered in dirt?

(workshop controller) thats your starter motor sir

(customer) oh......see you in a year for my next service...

This is why garages get a bad rep!

Lol agree, i think main dealers in general are for people who are clueless about cars and think thay are doing something wrong if they dont go to a dealer of the make of their car...
My mam for example! Paid £200 for front discs and pads on a nissan note at a dealer, i went mad with her and told her id sort it else were cheaper, but she had ot done then told me afterwards before i could do anything
I went to a renault garage just after i had mine about the bumper light washer jets to see if theyd do it on warrenty, when i went to pick it up they said the mechanics have had a look and the windscreen washers are working fine...tbh it made me just want to get out and never go back, i couldnt even be bothered with them, thats an example that puts people off, you owning a clipsport would be more aware of this and probably realise the problem, yet the middle aged man was probbly thinking about what his wife would be making for his tea than actualy realising the bumper had washer jets also, this is why renault specialists are preffered

They are! if someone told me they wanted to charge me £600 to replace my front and rear discs and pads id probably s**t myself!

Thing is if you own a 1*2 why would you bring it to a dealer anyway....the prices we charge are ridiculous for a car thats between 5-10 years old!

Thats why people get put off! If i'd just bought a 182 for £5k say then took it to renault cause it needs a full service and belts and they told me it was gonna be over £1k i'd cry, a 1/5 of the cars value on a service! INSANE!! Then on top of that if it needs other work doing.

I bet a lot of people couldnt afford to constantly take their Renaultsports to dealers to be maintained anyway. So thats why the criticism starts!

We're not saying all Renault dealers are decent because there are some retards out there. It's just annoying when people dismiss using us when we do provide a decent service. Maybe it's because 3 out of the 4 techs we have own Renault sports I don't know but the horror stories I've read on here certainly wouldn't happen.

amazes me how many people cant do a basic oil change them selves, i do everything on my cars unless i need a press for example then i go to a garage i worked for, they allow me to use there stuff free

Personally, I'd much rather do a service myself as i know thats its been done properly then!! It also gives me something to do at the weekend.

In addition, unless something is specifically broken, or is particularly difficult to do, ie a cambelt, sod paying someone a few hundred quid exra for a pretty stamp. I keep the receipts, do the work, & stamp the book with one of Sarah's teaching stamps usually:

I think most comments are a general view. I know many garage owners around who know what they are doing, don't Ron you blind, but I do also know people who will throw 10w40 oil in any car they service too. It's different people with different attitudes and levels of knowledge. I don't think people should do a job just for they're pay check at the end of the month, if you don't like it and are not happy to help people and be proud of your position, then don't bother doing it! My Clio needs servicing and I'm lucky to have a guy fairly close who knows his stuff!

So keep your diary free Danny!

Seems to me alot of people on here have had bad or very bad experiences with main dealers there are some good main dealers out there but you need to find them!

Also if the service you recieve from the reception is poor doesnt mean the work is poor people just asume the worst

I used to be a ren techy but got made redundent and now work for mitsu and the level of workmanship has stayed the same throughout some people bring their renaults to us for the pure and simple fact that i work there lol and they know its done propperly

You're exactly right mate. Most service receptionists don't know their arse from their elbow.

Got a former Renault mechanic to do mini services on mine and the wife's car, for notta lotta dolla. Anyway, when he removed her Honda's (FHSH upto now) air filter, it was dirtier than ANY filter I've ever seen.

I've had nice cars, new cars, old cars and NEVER seen a filter like this. Either the Honda Jazz has a design flaw that makes it s**t on it's filter or it's never been changed in 4 yrs.

That's Honda main dealers.... Hate to think how poor Renault are by comparison.
