Setting timing on a new engine

How is it done?

If I've taken head of and replaced some pistons say. Get 1 and 4 pistons to TDC then what and how do I do to get it timed correctly?

Locking pin the crank and hold the cams in place with the tools and bolt it all together if you have the right tools then it will be right

How do you know when cams are In place though?

Obviously they can only be locked one of four ways, but how would you know which was right?

the slot in cams is ofset. Bigger D faces up

There was a pdf on here im sure of it. I have the full pdf files of hwe whole manual, pm me if you need it mate. Simple enugh to do with the tools.

All the parts of the manual fired over mate. can pick up the timing tools and locking tools over ebay for £60-70 in total.

there is a pattern one available, i think they're actually the people who make it, but its cheaper from Renault LOL

you don't really need it as you can **** about with the cam timing using the stock tool (well i can )

From memory the rods are the same part number as the 172

I think that's true, but if a set have come out then it saves messing with gudgeon pins etc...
