Setting up coilovers

I just fitted my coilies and now the steering wheel isn't straight when I'm going in a straight line, and it makes a knocking noise when I set off and stop.

Also, when I turn the wheels on full lock, as I'm doing this it makes a banging sound.

Any ideas what's gone wrong? After fitting coilies, what do I need to get checked/set up at garage?

Cheeeerz.

It sounds like your top mount assembly might not be right.

Did you have the car in the air when you tightened everything back up?

The car was in the air, I bolted the coilies to the hub and lifted it up to get the top mount slightly on, let the car down and then tightened the top mounts up.

Sometimes you have to fiddle with them until they sit right.

you need to have the camber, castor, toe in/out and tracking checked if you want it to handle

yeh get pics up mate. knocking is defo not normal. sometimes you can get knocking when turning due to the crap clio topmounts but not when you set off and stop. as for the steering wheel not being in the middle, thats due to your camber, tracking and toe being out. when you are ready you need to take it to a garage for a full geometry to correct the above, which will cost about £100-150 usually.
