Valarie the Valver touched down on my drive last night and she is a beauty. Completely standard apart from being lowered slighty. She is going to get an upgrade next year to a turbo from BB.
She is white and has the nice refurbed Phase 1 alloys that are in mint condition. She also has a fat wallet of bills which to me is a good sign and says she has been looked after well. Currently she has done 78K and the cambelt was done at 62K so a worry off my mind. She has a tiny pin prick of rust on the wheel arch which is normal for 16vs but apart from that the body work and interior is mint, and the best thing is she only cost me £2K so looking around has its benefits.
A few questions though:-
1. Is the clutch on valvers usually quiet heavy as one or two people I have spoke to says they are ?
2. The dogleg engine mounting, how hard is this to replace yourself and how much does this cost ? I am handy with a spanner BTW. I think this may need replacing soon as when you back off the throttle the gear stick moves about an inch which is a trait of the mounting being shagged.
3. How easy with the use of the good old haynes manual is the dash to remove to fix a couple of blown bulbs near the speedo ?
Cheers Ivan
