My lovely ph1 172 gear knob has been mullered by someone inconsiderate wearing a ring (I'm looking at you Colshe)

So seeing as its metal is there anyway to get it polished up to remove these marks?

You can't feel them So I can only assume they're not that deep?

I'll go with metal polish first, wet and dry will be a last resort, as I don't want to just end up with it looking like brushed (i.e fuvked) ali....

As for the offer, the things you'd do for a ride in someones car.... but I'll keep it in mind ;) LOL!

I did it to my last one...

It's powdercoated or painted or something. So you need to take that off first with some light wet and dry. Or you will be there for days trying to polish through, by hand.

Wet and dry and then metal polish via a drill with a buffer head

Oh, :( not what I wanted to hear, any links to the sort of polish and drill attachments you used???

I'm guessing you did it on the car as it doesnt come off easy does it?

Oh and pics of how it came up?

Mines the same. It's defo painted or powdercoated so I'm gonna hit it with sum 2000 and polish. If it comes up s**t I'll repaint it.

Iirc I read it on here a new knob and stalk is only £30ish from Renault?

I think a knob is a lot more mate, but I've heard they are a total b**ch to change? (Just the knob) Unless changing the whole gear leaver makes it easier????

Also, painting it would be bloody impossible wouldnt it? Due to it being fixed to the car?

I removed the whole thing, and then stuck it in a vice and gave it a good rubbing!

I just used some 1500 wet and dry and a drill attachment/buffing head on a grinder
