Shocking...

A few weeks back a local garage accidentally stripped the threads on my front hub, meaning the hub assembly had to be replaced.

Renault supplied the replacement but after the ordeal I decided to get another local garage to fit the new hub.

Everything seemed fine until last Mondays trackday, when I got a terrible vibration at high speed coming from the front end halfway round the circuit.

Upon inspection I discoved the front wheel was loose, and realised the new hub had been fitted with different bolts!!!

No wonder they worked their way loose!

I don't see whats different except the head which doesn't make a difference at all :s

Left one looks longer IMO but no obvious difference except from the head

this is one of the reasons i'm sometimes wary of garages - they loose bits and then 'find' something else to use - had it before with various things, including a substitute bottom arm bolt that had been knocked in as an interference fit - the head of the bolt was miles away from butting up against the hub!

lucky anyway; been on track before as bolts have worked loose

I am confused as to how that would cause the issue you have experienced... doesnt make sense.

I can see some difference, but not enough for it to come loose!
