Thanks for the advice. Defo gonna get one if they are not too difficult to fit. I've seen them before and the gear lever is considerably lower so I can appreciate what you mean about sitting on a high chair, it will prob take some getting used to but I presume it will be nicer to drive. My current is pretty tight and the gears aren't sloppy at all, sometimes 1st can be stiff in the morning first thing but only for a couple of minutes till the gear oil curculates properly. Being a woman I find them pretty cute looking! LOL
They're ok if the box is in good nick/can cope but TBH i wouldn't bother on a 16v.
If you think its hard to get into first in the morning get ready for it to get worse with the B&M on, being steel it gets very cold in the winter which makes it damn uncomfortable to use and as northy says it'll feel like your in a highchair.
I'd spend the 150quid or whatever they are on something better TBH.
Standard here as well, it maybe quicker to shift but you'll only rust the usless syncros but I alwasy ended up being as quick as if it didn't have it to protect the box.
The gear box is in really good nick, it was rebuilt about 12 months ago, I'm not sure exactly what they did to it to improve it, I think they put stronger cog's init or summat, I'm not that technical so dont really know. It was rebuilt and strengthened in some way anyway, I wouldn't say its hard to get in 1st but just slightly stiff sometimes first thing in the morning- especially in winter or if its been sat for 4/5 days. I probably need to drive one with a short shift to make my mind up really. If I put it on an dont like it, only means it will be coming back off again!! Thanks for all ur advice.
