Should i be worried?

  A ANIMAL
Driving home last night sat behind a cyclist. Waited until i could see far enough ahead to over take and accelerated in 2nd gear. As i got to about 4k the clio felt hesitant and juddered. Then the water temp guage dropped out and returned to normal - then did the same again (plenty of water so not low water levels). I eased it up to the junction at the top of the road, and the idle was at 2K. I puled off slowly and everything returned to normal??

Any ideas what it could be?

Probably the water temperature sender, they're w**k on 1*2's loads of people have had them go. Can put you into limp home mode which would explain the poor running.

Cheers - the Trophy is still under warranty so do you think it would be worth taking it to renault and asking them to change it? or is it not worth the bother?

Take it down there describe the symptoms and suggest it's been mentioned the coolant temp sensor is a possible cause. I don't think they're that expensive but either way make use of the warranty while you have it IMO.
