So, think I've found the one. Looking at a 2011 Clio 200 in red with black wheels, sat nav, climate control, full clean mot, 3 owners, only tyres and brakes in the history, full history, full new set of Goodyear F1 eagles on for 7k. Trading in my old car for 3.5 so half n half. Viewing it tomorrow.... It'll be my first RenaultSport.. bit nervous.. any advice good or bad? Gonna be a daily..

Looks very nice to me, honestly don’t mean to offend but you do know it doesn’t have the cup chassis? If you don’t want it then obviously it’s fine! Best colour for these in my opinion.

Yeah I know, it's like I said it'll be a daily. I doubt it'll see tracktime. That's why I don't want recaros either or leather seats. It's basically the exact spec I'm after. Except the double sunroof, which is an extra grand and 150 miles away lol

That seems very expensive for what it is.

Very high spec 200s seem to be going for £7-8k

I can’t properly make it out but that only looks to have sat nav and climate control, no recaros, speedlines or cup chassis, like you know. It has an aftermarket sprint spoiler too, which some people like.

If you’re not bothered about recaros or cup chassis or anything like that, I think they can be had cheaper. But if you’re happy to pay £7k for it, it’s youre money and your car. Just chipping in my two penneth.

I definitely wanted the sat nav and climate control and black wheels. I dont care about the cup chassis or recaros. I didnt know the rear spoiler was aftermarket? and looking at the pics blown up now it looks like the rear windows are all tinted and theres a mark on the rear screen from a previous sticker...... Im paying 3.5k as my car gets me 3.5k trade in. Do you think its too much? Ive been looking for around a month solidly on cargurus, autotrader, and piston heads and ive found nothing with the things i want in the price range within 200 miles of me...
Must admit im not sure if its night before nerves but im having doubts now....

Seems really expensive to me, without searching I found:

Ultra red full fat Clio 200
Recaros with standard wear on drivers seat, keyless entry with 2 keys, cup spoiler, tinted rear windows and cup chassis.

Mileage is 44k

No modifications.
Full service history, cambelt done October 2015
MOT 23 September 2018

New brakes in March - High carbon discs with brembo pads on the front. Genuine Renault discs with brembo pads on the rear.
Alloys in fair condition, 1 is fairly kerbed.

Asking for £5,250. No offers

No mention of Sat Nav, but use Waze instead, or Climate. But much cheaper. The price of these & 197s is coming right down at the moment

First one i've ever seen! I prefer the colour to the red one, but ultimately you won't know if it's worth the extra premium unless you see it in person. Which car are you leaning towards more?

Trade in valuation guide. Some say it’s off the mark in relation to Autotrader but I find the cheaper cars it’s more accurate.

But let’s not confuse things. If your happy with the price and the car is good, go for it

theres no leaning ll, its the red one, cant stretch the extra grand for the sunroof model or justify it as its got 12k more on the engine. i prefer the silver one too,but its the other side of the country and too pricey sadly. Ive just blown up the red ones photos on my 4k tv and now im noticing little niggles i didnt see before lol

checked all the old mot's just brakes and tyres, usual ball joint last mot but theyve done that. Belts have been done too, itll get a full mot and service on the day with any advisories fixed before collection. Also my car loan from AA i just found out gives me free mot for the life of the loan lol nice!
Car niggles, stupid though they may be, didnt realise the rear spoiler was aftermarket, didnt realise the rear windows were tinted (stupid i know, only used phone to look at it until now) theres a sticker mark on back window which might have damage when it was removed, the alloys dont look as mint as i once thought, seems theres a few big paint chips out of the wing mirror, maybe some scuffs on the dash, just being picky but hey im allowed to lol

Just don't jump in. Cant say i'm 100% clued up on these as to what should and shouldn't be done at a specialist, but if something isn't right, haggle. The ball is in your court as you dont have to buy that car. Theres plenty more out there!

I don’t think there is a rush mate.

I think it’s more a case of day before nerves, lot of money at the end of the day.

Best thing is go and have a mooch. Take it for a drive etc, you will know if it’s right when your there. Spending too much time thinking about can do you more harm than good.

Go and have a look, pretend your looking for someone else and see how it pans out.

If you’re happy with it then get it, providing it’s in good condition when you see it obviously

Why does it have to be 200 Miles? Would you not travel further for the right car?

Sat nav I wouldn’t have as a priority, most phones are good enough now, I’d be after the renaultsport monitor if anything.

Climate is a desirable option.

Wheels can be painted or changed

There’s an alien green one on eBay for 5750 iirc. It has black speedlines. Possibly recaros, I can’t remmeber and no cup chassis if I remember right.

Most on here will be after the car with the most options/best history etc but if you just want a nice 200 with some creature comforts then obviously don’t listen to us lol.


And to throw a spanner in the works, for £7k I’d be looking at Megane r26s

No the real dying is that for over 7 grand you start to creep towards RenaultSport Megane 250 territory also yeah. Thinking of rethinking my priorities, my phone's the dogs so a phone holder would be better and get a car a grand cheaper lol ps. I couldn't daily a green car... I'm 40 hahahaha

You may be getting close to meg 250 territory but the ropey end of the spectrum with high miles and likely standard cup variant. No climate etc.

yeah 80k with no climate.. but they lok so good.
Unlike the clio i saw, yeah it was ropey, scuffed alloys and centres, thin brakes, manky wing mirrors, the tinted windows werent upto much, scratched back windoe and dash, that spolier looked wonky too. Didnt even drive it just went on me way.
