Sigma S30 Alarm goes funny when rains

Aaargh. Went to a wedding yesterday. Got there pressed alarm button and it didn't arm. Tried everything no go.

So I left it a hour tried again still wouldn't work. Rang RAC and they towed me home. Got home tried it and it worked! Only thing is it was raining yesterday.

Could it be water getting in siren and if so what should I do. Was fitted by TOAD in '01,

Spoke to a TOAD fitter and he says alarm should have lifetime warranty. I will just have to lie about not being to original owner. He said shouldn't be the rain more likely control box is fudged.

The control box wont be the problem unless you've got a serious leak in the screen or sunroof (if fitted)

Its more likely a simple fault like water getting into the bonnet switch, or the sounder if its under the scuttle panel.

Sigma are very well made alarms, alarm fitters vary from bad to terrible..

Wheres the scuttle panel?

The bonnet switch does seem a bit rusty underneath. Should I take it to bits and skwirt some WD40 on it or something?

Thanks Brian once again you've come to my electrical rescue. Trying to get in touch with TOAD but it's bank holiday!

Hi Alex, The scuttle panel is the bit between the bottom of the windscreen and the engine compartment, where the wipers are located.

If the alarm sets with the bonnet up chances are the switch is faulty.

Its easier to replace the switch than try to clean it.

Well searched on Scooby forums cause apparently they come fitted with Sigma M30s. Mine is an M30 not S30, silly me!

Anyway found a way to reprogram pin code using key fobs. Apparently the fobs don't work well near fone masts so maybe that was the problem. If you move the car then they come back to life and mine has short range as it is.

So for now the problem hasn't re-occured but if it does I can try the keypad to disarm.

Brian where will I get bonnet switch from - is it Renault only and how much?
