Yep - that was the trouble with my Hillpower elbow. The ID was okay, but it was just too short to attach to the OEM airbox.len_beach said:Only just manages to sit over the airbox lip though.
The breather is the crankcase breather which runs from the back of the block under the engine cover round to the 90 degree bend of the inlet elbow.AJRMOTORSPORT said:^ as above, "The breather?"
Hope your driveway isn't too new/posh ;-)len_beach said:I'll try and get a couple of pics up for you but basically the new pipe runs down the bulk head and exits at the back of the NS subframe mount. I have tried to angle the pipe towards the road so it doesn't splatter my car.
Driveway is new mate but it doesn't pile loads of crap out so it's not really a problem.gh172 said:Hope your driveway isn't too new/posh ;-)
I've got some hose left if you want it bud. Not sure how much I have left, it's about 1m I think.gh172 said:Thanks for that mate
Was asking where you got the pipe, because none of my local motor factors deal with hoses anymore...
Nick - that's outstandingNick Hill said:gh172 I was puzzled to see your inlet elbow is to short to fit to the o/e air box. I cut all the hoses to the same lengths but have not had this comment from anybody else. Thats not to say I might have cut it short. If you care to contact me with your invoice number I will exchange the hose for you foc.
Oops, just saw the word "exchange"... I ended up selling the IK and elbowNick Hill said:I will exchange the hose for you foc.
Instead of recirculating oil vapours via the inlet elbow, a pipe just dumps the stuff into a tank/bottle. You empty it periodically by hand.portal172 said:I don't understand how the catch tank works?
I know it catches air! (or something)
Nick Hill. PM sent, I'm after one 2...
Not a problem. If you PM Matt on here (username Team Think) and explain that you want a 70mm bore 90 degree elbow for your 172, like the one he sold Len_Beach if he is unsure. The part will come with equal lenght legs so one side will need cutting down but it's a small price to pay when it comes to £19.04 all in. Ask him if he can send one with the longest legs possible as mine only just reaches over the air box lip.Rhys182 said:Please could you post details of the part you ordered from think automotive Len beach.
http://www.thinkauto.com/index.htm found this but not sure what to get.
Thanks
I have a Piper X panel filter with an uprated feed with the removal of the acoustic valve. It all depends wether you want to spend £50 on a setup like mine or £200 on a Viper. Whatever you do though, do not buy a K&N 57i style open filter as they simply draw hot air and will lose you power. They will sound good though.GABO035 said:Hi mates,
I want to know the opinion regarding to install or not a filter at the end of the breather hose when you replace the OE inlet hose with the silicon one.
