Smashed up Clio Trophy

  RenaultSport clio 182 mk2
Sorry to see a lovely shiny Clio Trophy smashed up in Headingly, Leeds, this afternoon. Didn't look like anyone was hurt (thats the main thing!) but both air bags had gone off and front was smashed in. The poor thing was being dragged up the back of a car transporter.

If the owner is reading this - bad luck!:( :( :(

hope it's fixable!!

  Punto. Wahey.
Awful to hear about, terrible for those involved, and those hoping to get one in the future... at least it means the remainder are even more valuable for those that are lucky enough to own one.

:(

500 - 2 = 499 ?

or are you trying to tell us that there were more than 500 UK Spec ?

0-500 = 501 cars.

501-2 = 499.

Yes, there was a car 'Zero' which was spotted for sale on the ClioTrophy board.

Cheers,
O.

^^ Uh oh..... :clown:

Technically, and specification wise yes. In reality they are very close in performance on a track

Odds on alot of these write offs will end up bodged back together by cowboys probably using other suspension components rather than the sachs units if they are damaged.

It was at the Adel end of Headingley, by the Leeds Uni halls - just on from Lawnswood roundabout.

The driver was just stood shaking his head - looked miffed.

I think it was an Escort he hit comming out of the Cookridge junction.

I think there is going to be a few Trophy owners who have got the wrong end off the stick. Yes the handling is amazing, but it doesnt alter the laws of phyiscs!

  Inferno 182 w/ Recaros ;)
Do you know it was a right off? Could be repaired. Just because the airbags went off doesn't mean it will be written off.

This is not good. Gutted for the driver. Will be looking out for Recaro's if its a right off!!

lol:D :D

I know...everyone is thinking about stripping it out for the spoils!!

I don't think ut was a write off. Like you say, the airbags had gone off and there was front end / wing damage but it's probably economical to repair rather than write off.

Is it 50% of the market value for repair before they write off?

Anyways, I think he will have it back on the road when repaired - doubt it will handle / feel the same as it did though...
