Sold my Clio 172

  Iceberg 172 Cup
Last week, Thursday i believe, got what i wanted for it and tbh i am glad to see the back of it, but not sure why.

Put 12 months MOT on my BMW e60 5 Series on Friday, 6 months TAX, havent used it for 7 months and all it needed was new brake pads on the rear! Gave it a quick polish and took a leisurely drive out to Scarborough and Filey yesterday and it all became apparent to me what i had been missing.

Quick, old pic! Sat on coilovers since this pic and brembo 4 pots.

agreed, why sell a 172 to drive around in a boring boat??

All a matter of opinion. The 172 had to go, was fed up of french build quality, rattles, things breaking, falling off etc, this is nrly half as much to insure, twice as good on fuel, and the build quality is of something Renault have not produced yet.

Its hardly boring to my eye, i love it, love the lines, the looks, the silky butter smooth straight six, sounds immense.

The winter wheels look too small, but I still prefer them over the "Beyern Mesh's". Surely the 5 series can't be twice as economical as the 172, what engine is it? 530d?

I'm always amused how people reply to threads like this. I like your car mate, the 5 is a great car. The wheels are ok, get it slammed! Also noticed (in the very short time I've been a member here) that most threads are just full of people commenting negatively on others cars, I'm a member of other websites and rarely do I see much of that. 'boring boat' 'wheels look tiny' 'surely the 5 cant be as economical as the 172'........ in the flesh it will look better than the pics, will go like stink and are great to drive and if its any diesel engine by BMW at all they get very very good fuel consumption

Looks drug dealerish! And I'm not a fan of the shape unless it's an M-sport. Lovely cars all the same, if not a little more sedated to drive than a 172. Personal preferance I suppose.

I should have known posting this on a clio forum wouldn't go down well! shame though! as when i had a clio you guys seemed alot nicer, funny how changing a car makes people act differently.

the 5 is a great car, thanks Cribert. it is lowered also, in the pics it isn't sat on Blistein Coilovers, but is now and theyre epic.

These cars have such a presence but also come with the typical prejudice 'bmw driver' i.e - w@nker name :approve:

We weren't any nicer lol. It's just that obviously on a clio forum, where the majority see the rattles, breaking down etc as "character" a BMW that runs, drives, makes no rattles, has no problems and requires no tinkering isn't going to be a favorite with the members lol.

That said, it looks like a nice example. Just doesn't float my boat.
