Sony 4 x 52w

may be a stupid question but here goes anyway... if my sony HU says 4x52 watts output, does this mean it can only output to 4 speakers?

only to four speakers off of the h/units built in amplifier! this is a max out put aswell so expect the actual output to be more like 26 watts per channel, ie: 26watts rmsX4 hope this helps u out, ps bare this in mind when buying peakers to run off h/u

it wont be anywhere near 26W RMS per channel mate, probably about 10-15W RMS

erm... my 6X9s (yeah yeah, i know) say theyre 50w RMS per channel so what does this mean if my head unit is giving out 10-15w?

easy. mines 52x4 n i think i read it was between 22 n 23 rms. if u bang those 6x9s straight onto your headunit it basically means u wont get the full potential out of them.

52x4 is nearer to 18wRMS per channel

if you play them off your head unit you will be underpowering them, whilst at the same time damaging your head unit because of the stress it is under

i got that hu. it says 26w x 4. are sony lying then?
