Sounds Like My 182 Is Falling Apart! Any Ideas?

Right guys need your expertise on this one.

When i reverse out of my drive, steering full lock either direction i hear a very loud crunching/knocking noise, sounds like it comes from the wheel area - even my Mrs heard it standing at the front door!! and the car like shakes!

It really does sound awful, like my 2 and a bit year old 182 is in pain!

Now i've done a search and i've also put my name down for some washers in the top strut thread but i can't see how that will solve it as it sounds that bad!

I'm on the verge of taking it in to Renault but i'd like your thoughts 1st.

Yes it is however how many people on here try and avoid taking their car in to some numb nuts in Reno, i'd say most if humanly possible.

Took mine in in the past and it's come back with other niggles not noticed when it went in, they are a joke.

mine has a sort of noise like that...not sure if its the same. but it feels like the tyres are 'jumping' its only on full lock when im going slow and usualy when its cold. doesn't feel too good though!!

Some dealers are ok. Two of the mechanics at the one I use have been there since I had my 5gtt. 1986 They must know what they're doing by now!!
Don't believe everything you read on here. If you're not happy with work done make a big fuss and noise, and don't pay them.

Sounds very much like your CV joint. Usually this noise only occurs when the steering is on full lock. Knocking noise like that should be checked asap.

Only on full lock I get this.

My dad's old Mondeo used to do it too.

My 55 plate has just turned 9000 miles.
