Spare Key?

I've got a key to my dads old 172 (don't ask how i've still got it):rasp: but was thinking is there anyway of just getting the key part cut and getting the fob part reprogrammed for my car?

Long shot I know but thought i'd ask!

I think the fobs were car specific. Mine had to be ordered from Renault from my VIN.
