Spax RSX fitting and adjustment

Hi all

Got my new coilovers just looking at fitting them and the book mentions lowering with the top spacers that come fitted? I thought it would just be a straight forward install lowering with the springs like normal? Anyone any ideas ?

Also what's the best stuff to spray them with to prolong the life? Will a good helping of wd40 work?

Sorry car in question is a 172 cup, full coilover front and rear
