Spax with Pure top mounts - issue

I've fitted my Spax RSX today with pure top mounts but now have knocking which I think is due to missing off a couple of items.

On the initial build up of the struts, using the Spax spacer and/or the bottom Pure Motorsport spacer wouldn't allow enough thread on the damper shaft to tighten the top nut.

We also didn't fit the Spax top nut as it was only just bigger than the hole through the Pure moun an I looked as if with any load they would come together damaging one or the other.

Now the car has settled, there's more thread showing on the damper shaft so a spacer is now required.

My question is, do I use the Pure spacer which I'm swaying towards or th Spax nd is he top Spax nut essential?

use the pure spacer on the bottom and the pure nut at the top, they are made to fit the bearing in the topmount.
the spax nut is only used with the OEM renault topmount.
The spax spacer i'm in two minds about, not using it doesn't seem to do any harm, but I think it will add a little height to the front of the car.
did the same job last thursday.

Thanks Bozo. I was hoping you'd answer.

I saw Dans response re the Spax spacer. Do you have enough length on the shaft to fit alongside the Pur spacer as I'm not sure I would?

How do you find the drive?

for what I have driven, the ride is fine, better than my old oem stuff
still need my alignment doing as i've set mine to max camber, which seems a bit much...lol

how did you get on with fitting them, any problems?

My old shocks are 90k old so 4 concrete rods would have been an improvement on my ride lol.

Do you have Eibach camber bolts as I've not fitted those yet.

No issues to be fair other than a ball joint not playing when rebuilding. Old stuff off and new on in 4 hours with a bit of lunch too.

I haven't used the eibachs I have because the top holes are slotted, and I'm guessing they'll do the 1.5 (or less) neg camber I want.
next up are the lower arms/bushes/balljoints...if I find the time withe the new baby.

You shouldnt need to run camber bolts, there is a slotted hole on the strut to allow camber adjustment.

And 1.5'camber up front is standard as far i know, thats what i run at. NO tyre wear really and it handles nicely!!

standard is -0.5. -1.5 is quite a lot for a road car really

I dont run the spax spacer with ast solid top mounts it doesn't knock/ perform incorrectly :)
When we rebuild them this weekend, we'll get the weight of the car on the dampers first before fitting the top not, that should give enough damper shaft to get the Pure top nut on.

I didn't spot the elongated top slot as my Brother fitted the fronts. Knowing my luck one side will be +.5 and the other -1.5 LOL.

Oh right lol. I was wrong then :)

What is the max camber the spax can go to?

It would be good to know what the max is as I was thinking in the region of -1.5 to -2.0 given what I've read on here for a pure track setup.

Depends entirely on ride height. I set a cup to -2deg for track the other day, and it's not much below standard height. that was about maximum. if it was lowered I'd think -3deg would be easily achieved, although pretty pointless if you ever intend to drive on the road
