Speed Bumps: Damper Seals / Cracked springs

On my 182 the rear damper seals have gone (27k miles) and I've just replaced a front spring on the other halves Dynamique (34k miles).

Has anybody else noticed simliar early life failures? The reason I ask is that we have quite a few (middle of the road) speed bumps round are way and Im wondering where I stand on giving the council the verbal they deserve!!!!!!!!

They were fitted to roads where there hasn't been any pedestrian accidents and they're a right pain in the arse coz I have to drive around at 15mph!

I am in process of changing both of my rears as one of them has gone pop at 19700 miles. I go over retarders occasionaly but have just been around a couple hundred miles of country roads and suspect this may have been the problem.:S

One of my rear dampers is leaking aswell @ (27K). The rear end bottoms out far too easy I have found now. I think it is due to the speed bumps too. Does anyone know if this will be covered under the extended warrenty i bought when i got the car? Also how much is a new damper?

New damper is £50, from what i've seen on here they break all the time.

Mines the same at 33k, Its off in for a warranty Job at the end of the month, You can be driving along normally and the slightest change in the roads surface or a speedbump at 20mph BANG. I'm hoping there may be a recall on them eventually because changing the shocks every now and then isnt going to be cheap


Edit: and yes youre warranty should cover it, the only things they dont cover is Exhaust, brakes and tyres Generally, But you could read your warranty info for more details

The standard rears are cheap crap, Im on my second set with 30000 miles showing and one of them is leaking. I also have a broken front spring which I put down to these stupid so called traffic calming measures. Oh and I tried the stealers when the first set went when the car was still under warranty and they hunted me claiming wear and tear!

They generally try to say its wear and tear for dampers and only have 12month warranty but if you phone renault UK they sometimes agree to pay.

And people beep and give me abuse for slowing down to about 3mph at every speed bump down the high street.

Most of them hit them at 20-30mph.

had no probs with my shocks, nearly on 46k now. you must be going to fast over bumps.

Getting 2 new rear dampers fitted under extended warrenty next friday!
