BIG old spend out this month, a full report will be in my next report for Performance Car magazine but here we go:
Well the list of stuff needing replacing was:
Rear shocks ( as one was spilling fluid out everywhere)
front wishbones ( as the handling had gone very bad!)
Plus it was due a service
and my cambelt was due!
So i ordered 2 new rear shocks and two front wishbones from renault, as well as 3 ltrs of gearbox oil and on oil filter:
So into work last saturday i went, rolled up my sleeves and cracked on.
First job was up on the ramp and drain the engine and box oil.
while that was draining i changed the rear shocks, good job by the puddle under the car, have a look at the state of the old ones once they were off and on the floor:
new ones on:
next i took my dogbone mount off and fitted the poly bushes i had ordered from K-terc racing:
once these jobs were done the hard one was started.
I knew the wishbones were going to be a pain as the rear wishbone bushes had sheared from the metal sleeve, and caused us no end of problems, after what seemed like a million years of trying with air guns, breaker bars etc, we resorted to oxy bottles!
We burned the bushes away lol and got the bolts out adventually, and the new ones popped in right away.
last job was putting the oils back in, engine was easy enough once i put the new filter on, and the box was easy once i had found a bit of tube to pour it in with lol.
I also added some forte diff and gear treatment, iv used forte products for many years, and hold them in high regard, and has made my box feel alot smoother
with all that done and the car driving so much smoother, i took my car down for a day with Lemonnobby1 for my cambelt and aux belt kit change.
Top marks to the bloke, the job was carried out perfectly, at a great price, and im happy in the knowledge that not only have i stuck using genuine parts, but the job was carried out my a pro and i will defiantly will be using him again!
All in all, a expensive month, but very productive, and the ol' girls feeling 100 times better for it all
just gotta refurb my wheels and fit the brand new set of GSD3's that iv just bought brand new for £90
