Sporting Drive:182 vs Z4

  182, SRT8, RS4, GT-R
Just had an amazing drive against a Z4 3.0L. It was a friend driving but he didn't realise it was me behind him as i've not seen him since i've got my 182. It was on some of the best roads here aswell witha good mixture of twists and straights with a speed limit of 105MPH.
They are fast cars,he pulled from the standing start but i gained from 40-70. He was literally chucking it into the corners and i could see and hear how hard his car was working,it was just a great tussle and a great sporting drive, he definately had the legs on me though after 90MPH,just too much power for me.
I've checked Evo and they have it down as 0-60 as 5.9 which would explain why he pulled away from a standing start.
It was probably my first proper sporting drive in my car, pushing it to its limits,it felt great. Loads of adrenaline kicking in too.Anyone else had a go against a Z4??

best private roads i hope??? ;)

at least you are enjoying your 182 buddy...

No need mate, speed limit was 105 and we didn't go past that once ;)

Plus the police here seem to turn a blind eye to sporting drives..

LOL.. even if they did pull you, i'm sure a quick bung would get them off your back...

Police here are a weird experience to say the least. They have without doubt some of the most stupid traffic laws i've ever seen. For example, any accident, not matter how small requires you to leave your vehicle where it happened until the police come...now this can take upto 2 hrs and if you've had a minor shunt on the busiest road in the UAE you end up causing mamouth tail backs.
I also recommend to never have an accident with a national as even if its their fault you'll more than likely be liable as they have connections to the police and people in the know.
They seem to have have 2 sets of laws for people,i've been driving to work and seen cars doing in excess of 170MPH with the police in the next lane yet they don't pull them and i've been pulled for doing 100 in a 110????
Bizarre really.

I wouldn't go as far as corrupt. It's a great place to live actually. The standard of living would knock socks off the UK. Consumables are so cheap its silly along with fuel. You could live here as you do in the UK for almost a 1/5th of the cost. Crime is virtually nil, only 2% crime rate, one of the lowest in the world. But it does have drawbacks. Some people are extremely rude to the point of ridicilous. People have never heard of a queue here. The summer here is unbearable with temps over 50 degrees. The traffic is a disaster area.
I'd recommend it to anyone though, fastest growing city in the world with some very exciting projects lined up.

Good lad! Had exactly the same thing when I first got my 182. To be fair I was never going to get past the Z4 but it was great fun trying to keep up.

Best bit was afterwards when I pulled up alongside him at some lights (he had the roof down) :

Him - "How much did you pay for that then/what engine size is it?"

Me - "£10.5k - 2 litre. Is that a 2.5 litre Z4?"

Him - "No mate it's the 3 litre one, £31k - didn't think I was ever going to loose you!"

Me - :approve:

Turns out he was a rep at the local BMW dealer and it was their demo car. Had quite a chat 'til the lights changed, then we both puttered off, short shifting at about 2,000rpm.
