Spraying advice for PH1 Silver Centre Console and Gearknob

  PH1 172 Sport
Ive decided that I want my gearknob and the silver part of the centre console to match my door pulls which are in Iceberg Silver.

As the console has that rubbery/plastic coat on it and its in fairly good nick I was just going to etch into it with a medium grade sand paper instead of stripping it right back to plastic. Should this be ok?

With the gearknob do I have to go back to the bare metal or can I just etch into the surface again and spray over the top?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean about the dash, but you'll get away with just giving the gearknob a good rough up and then etching onto that without going back to bare metal.

Ok cheers. The PH1 has a a silver centre console which is layered with the same stuff that they use on the door pulls. With the door pulls I had to go back to the plastic as they had melted but the centre console is in pretty good condition so I didn't really want to do that if I could get away with it!

You want to be taking it right back to plastic, otherwise the paint looks a bit s**t. You do know to take the centre part out you have to take the whole lower dash out... I did it in my project thread

Ah right well ive tried it without going back to the plastic. It looks ok apart from the iceberg silver ive got is a really bad match.

I got it from Auto-Paint which I heard were supossed to be good but its just too dark.
