spraying exhaust

Car  172cup
Hello there!
I wanna spray my Yozza in matt black, just the pipes.
I know I need to use VHT paint but do I need to prep the surface first? Is that chrome or polished steel?
Any info will be appreciated I don't really want the paint to flake away!

thanks!
Al

I would think you'd need to prep or key the surface, then vht primer and vht paint. If you dont prep it, then I would think that with metal movement and heat, you would have it ruined pretty quick. I wouldnt do it if I was being honest as it will affect resale should you ever wish to (imho)

yes you re right didn't know you had to use sandpaper
I was hoping I could spray it on top without removing the chrome :(

yeah a good vinyl wrap :D
I found a few links on the web, it needs to be washed, degreased, washed, sandpapered, washed, VHT primer and base coat.
f**king hell

I dont like it, I'm after a raw matt black look

looks like you can get it sandblasted and ceramic coated or matte black chromed, same finish different technique.
or......get the bit sandblasted and diy spray it, that's how Harley bikers do it :D
