spraying rear clusters

me and my mate had an idea a few days ago to spray the standard front grill (top part) on my 172 the same colour as the bodywork (iceberg silver) and it looks the bollox, because the bottom grill and the spot light surrounds are still black it actually makes the car look wider, anyway we have some spray left (mate mixed the colour) and was thinking of spraying the rear custers the same colour as the body work apart from the clear circle reverse light, what are your views on this?

im finding it difficult to imagine what it will look like, what do you think? also, hes a s**t hot sprayer and is gonna laquer it so it looks exactly like the bodywork (not a cheap tacky matt finish like is so often seen)

any opinions?

I think I know what you mean. He will have to water down the paint quite a bit I guess or else you wont be able to see the lights through it. TBH Ive seen it done on other cars and I thought it looked a bit crap IMO, maybe getting them done as a smoked finish rather than silver would look better.

Think it will look good mate, but youd need sh*te loads of laquer mixed into the paint to make it semi-transparent i think

i know what you mean about making it transparent, ive got break-light, and normal rear lights on the same amp as the fog lights so they shouldnt look dim, my mate just bought lexus lights and has spare standard rear clusters that he says i can have if it turns out to look pants, its just im really bored of seeing lexus lights on all cars, theyre like flaps, every c**ts got them. i just want to be a little different.
