Squeaky Wilwoods?

As the title says, it can be mostly heard when im gradually slowing down (20mph or slower) as opposed to slamming on the anchors! I originally thought of putting copper grease on the back of the pads but ive read here a few times that thats a no no. Its rather loud and very annoying and i was after advise or experience on how to remove this! Could it be due that the ds2500 are squeaky pads in general? I have no idea on the brands ive bought as ive always gone oem so any help would be great.

The brake setup is:

Wilwood 4pots
Pagid discs
Ferodo ds2500 pads

Thanks, Mark

I personally have done so. I presume they fit straight into the OP wilwoods.

I don't mean so they fit properly, sometimes the edges of pads can cause a squeak. So I took mine out and just filed the edges off slightly. Never squeaked since, I now do this on every set of pads I fit.

Thanks for getting back to me

My ds2500's squeak in the same circumstances you have listed. Completely normally so ive been told.

This is what i thought at first as i know the mintex pads do.

No i havent done that tbh mate. They slid straight into the caliper with ease so i thought i didnt need to.

Any squeal shims? My Mintex pads used to squeal like mad without in the wildwood calipers.

NO, i never recieved any shims in the pack so i presumed it was fit and go with every thing i had.

Mine squeal as well!!!!

Have you done anything to change that? Did you have any shims or have you used copper grease on the back of the pads?

They sound broke to me fancy selling them cheap to me

Wishful thinking there tom lol :rasp:

I've put copper grease on the sliders but it still squeals, I'm not bothered by it. Propper braking force sound ;-)

My DS2500's also squeal when approaching junctions, a small price to pay for the excellent stopping power imo.

Mark go to a garage and see if they have some 'Pagid anti squeal'. Its blue and is like a gel type substance. I put copper grease on my 4pots and didn't make any difference, put the smallest amount of the Pagid stuff on and never made a sound after :)

Ahh thats good to know, i shall look into that. When you say garage, i take it you mean like a kwik fit, formula one autocenters etc or will halfords sell it? Or even on the net?

Love the name btw :)

Mark, if that paid blue gel is as good as it sounds, don't forget Euro Car Parts own pagid so they should keep it on the shelf I would have thought.
