squealing belt aux belt?

  soon to be 182 ;)
ok so in april this year i had my cambelt and aux belt changed (reciepted too)
and now it comes to winter with cold and wet weather it decides to start squealing when i start it up, only when it is cold. this morning however when i started it up it was ticking over and the squealing didnt stop until i revved the engine, could this be that they didnt change the tensioner as well?? any opinions, will this damage anything on my car as it is a bit worrying it making this noise??

high load on the alternator, trying to re-charge the battery after starting. If the battery is weak it takes more alternator current. This makes the alternator harder to turn, and thus the belt can slip

this wouldnt explain why it does it if you go through a puddle tho does it?

Could be the extreme cold, cold pulleys, idlers, and hard rubber belts, mines being doing that now. As for Todd's, assuming the mechanic HAS changed it for a new belt and tensioned correctly, then it won't harm anything.

It runs the alternator and water pump, so not fatal to the engine like the cambelt. When the weather warms up a bit it should be ok. If it constantly squeals in warmer weather then get the belt changed or adjusted.

I had this problem, squeeling belt in the cold... Had the same answers about the battery being on the way out, i think mine could be a little bit weak, but it was a loose belt as i thought.

Wasnt the aux but the alternator belt...

I took the front bumper grille out... loosend the adjuster nut on the alternator... slid a metal bar down the top of the alternator (used a tyre lever) and got something to lever against, pushed the alternator down and then tightend the nut back up... therefore tightening the belt up, no more squeels...

ok i think mines the alternator belt as the lights dim when it squeals, meaning lack of elleci, will get the garage to sort it out
