Stalk Differences - Connects 2 and AutoLeads

Right,

I am considering getting a steering wheel stalk adaptor to allow my HU to work with the stalk on the car. I am ATM using an Alpine HU. The Alpine lead is out of the question as it is very pricey ; I guess it did retail for £100 new but even with the display working on the dash I can't justify that.

However, I have noticed that the Autoleads kit needs the dash to be removed in order to hook it up to the MFD on the dash, but that the Connects 2 unit doesn't. I understand both make the dash say Renault or something like that, but someone was saying there was a reason some die hards went for the Autoleads kit. Does anyone know the reason why or is there no difference between the two bar fitting?

FWIW the Alpine I have is a CDE-178BT. I do have the choice of fitting a CDA-9887R but I would have to fit the box to get Bluetooth connectivity with it.

ATM I am considering going with the Connects 2 kit.

@skinz do you know what name Matt @MTAudio goes under here? I searched for MT Audio with no success.

Wont do your dash display, but doesn't need the dash taking apart. Buy it.

Connects2 is canbus adapter iirc - whereas the autoleads is wired. I have used and fitted many of the connects2 kits and never had any issues (i think) there may be a few times ive read where people have had issues with the connects2 adapter getting confused and thats why they would prob reccommend autoleads. If it was me I would use the connects2 one based on personal experience.

I only access the forum on taptalk and cant seem to seach members - but checked my inbox and Matts username was MTAudio, his website listed on profile that i can access , but seems to be down - maybe he's stopped trading (?),

If so then dynamic sounds are generally pretty competitive with their pricing - and if you have any problems at least you know theyll act - unlike some ebay sellers, mind and order the patch lead for your hu also as these aren't included with either of the adapters
