Standard 172 on the rollers

Has anyone taken there STANDARD 172 on rollers before? What was your results?

I took Amanda's motor along to my Scoobie meet to see what it was putting out. Anyone who knows Surrey Rolling road will know that Charlie is a top fella and gives you as much help as poss.

I was shocked to say the least on the results.

It was only pulling 140.2 BHP at the wheels!!! :dapprove: Now the 172 must be based on the engine rather than at the wheel .:S

140 atw isn't too bad if 18% transmission looses are taken into account.

yep mine ran 169bhp at the fly and can't remember, but it was 140 something at the wheels. (Power Engineering RR)

yeah, thats about right, remember bug eyed scoobs are 212bhp at the fly , and that'll have bigger losses through the 4x4 drivetrain

140 at the wheels is about right with transmission loss and tolerance on rolling road.

Very rare for any 172 to produce 172bhp exactly on the rollers at the flywheel. They are usually something like 166 or 168bhp.

Ok, maybe I didn't write that correct.

What I was trying to say is that I thought the read out would have shown more at around the 172 mark and not the 140.2bhp. So say around the 160 area. This has been proven at other times with Charlies Rollers. However I still think it has the origenal clutch etc bar after market exhaust that I fitted. So some power loss for a 48k is excepted.And besides it's a shame her car is n/a and not t/c. Would love to see a graph with someone who has had there 172 with a turbo conversion if thats ok?:approve:

Cars never make there figure that the car companys claim. Some maybe as much as 10-15bhp out alone as I found out with my car.

At the end of the day Amanda is happy with it so I can't grumble to much.

Still looking at getting another cat-back system as the sportex fitting is pants.
