Standards to 18'

  Clio 16v - Black
Hey There Guys,

Just had a quick Query, I'm currently driving a fairly new Clio MK2, Done a couple of additional mods to it in the time I've had it, nothing too major, an alot of people are suprised at how quick mine is for a 1.2 16v.

I just wanted to hear from experience how much different would there to go from standards, to 18' alloys, would it greatly effect the acceleration, or would it be mild?

I wanted a second opinion from the community before i made my decision,

Cheers

Im just wondering, would Low Profile Tyres Compensate in anyway?

Or am i just better off going with Smaller wheels rather than wanting both the look and acceleration ?

to be honest, you wouldn't get anything from 18" wheels, they look daft on a small car full stop. my 17's are too big really, they rub like hell.

Unless your into neon lights on your car, I'd go for some decent 16's

Is there really alot of rubbing?, i always thought clios could hold 17's quite well ?

Cheers for the opinion will defo be taken into account

oh god yes, mines been lowered 40mm, and every other corner the front wheels rub on the arches, pisses me off.

18's would look like a monster truck without a drop, and rub like hell with a drop

ah but you have a 182 which are lower to start with, he has got a non sport, my 1.2 is on 17s down 50mm and it doesnt rub, i also think sometimes they look too big but they were a good buy so cant really complain

18s lowered 40mm will not rub except on full lock if you buy the correct offset and take the arch lining out.

On coilovers you can go lower as the shock bodies are thinner
