Steering noise.

Im not too sure how much i should worry about this, but its rather bugging me.

Sometimes when i turn the wheel, whilst not moving, there is a sudden bang. The best way to describe the bag would be by lightly banging one finger on your desk. It also done it today when travelling at a low speed and turning.

i took it to the garage. but of course they need to hear it before they know for sure. With cars being cars, it didnt make the noise whilst i was there.
Any suggestions on what it is or how had it could be?

Should try avoiding turning the steering wheel if the cars not moving.
