steering wheel problem

  Ph2 Flamer
As is traditional when I do something on my cars I've made a mistake somewhere along the line. Basically swapped out the old wheel for a replacement 172 with intact thumb grips.
When I got to the point of pulling the old wheel off the spindle it was a bit of a struggle and when it popped off a black disc with coils of ribbon wire leading to the plugs which connect to the air bag came with it.
Carefully placed it all back in, new wheel on, all good. That is until this morning when I took it out for a run. On going round tight corner I can hear the ribbon getting moved around in side the wheel/column. It's not catching or stopping the wheel and there a no warning lights but it is annoying. More annoying is that the indicators no longer self cancel.
Any thoughts on what I've done? I had a pig of a job getting the air bag off so would like to have a fix in mind before getting it back off again!

I'd take it back off dude.

It's not hard to get the airbag off, you just need a flat blade screwdriver.

Get it off and post a pic up, that might help.

Yeah I guess that would be easiest will have a bash on the weekend, the airbag hasn't deployed in my face so thats the main thing!

Having searched around the bit thats broken is the squib. There seem to be quite a few on ebay so I think a new one is probably in order, although other than the lack of self canceling indicator it doesn't appear to be causing any grief.
Anyone ever replaced a squib? From previous posts Renault charge £100 quid so I'll be doing it myself if I can.

The front blanking ring on the clock spring has snapped off and all the ribbon cable was visible. Would post a pic but i need to get the wheel back off. Have dug out a few threads where the same thing has happened to people and basically its a new part from renault for over a £100 or a second hand job off ebay. No idead how much of a pig they are to remove and refit but I'll be buying me one off ebay as soon as cliospares or one of the other sellers confirms the part number.
Should have been more careful trying to get the damn wheel off and left the torx in place but loosened. Lesson learnt.
