I have had three new cables and a new throttle body too. They all helped but ultimatley the design is floored and the UK spec cars were never meant to run with a long cable, the Euro cars would of had a cable half the length.
The only way you can fix it is to modify the return spring or add one to the pedal to help pull the last bit of the cable through and allow the throttle body to shut fully.
Only problem then is that the pedal becomes more heavy under foot.
One day I will get some pictures of what I did to mine but I haven't seen the car for weeks as it won't start because of the immobiliser, so I left it parked off the road weeks back!
