Strange engine noise between 1.-2k revs

When I blip the pedal while stationary, or when moving off I'm getting what shounds like a scraping noise coming from the engine
Then it goes away and the car drives as normal :S

Anything to worry about?

Found this while trying to solve a steering issue yesterday - if it's not 1 thing it's another!

I did notice something similar in mine after changing to cup alternator setup. I'm not sure whether its something related to the belt tension or possibly a bearing. G also swapped my PAS pump at the same time. But its been fine for ages and never got worse.

what setup are you running?

Standard setup Chris - doesn't do it all the time which is weird.
