Strange noise

Hi all, keep hearing a ringing noise on my 182.

It seems to be louder between 30 & 40 mph.

Anyone got same prob, any ideas?

I hate going back to reno, always clueless.

Best described as a ringing noise, could be high pitched rattle .

Does it appear to be coming from the passenger side by any chance? and does it go when you press the clutch?

I had a ringing/whistling type noise in mine and it was a problem with the gearbox. Another 182 owner (craigpenton) has since had the same problem... could it possibly be that?

Trail182 was your gearbox repaired or replaced?

It was replaced, only took them a day. The other guy who had a similar problem is having his repaired... suppose it depends on the extent of the problem.

Obviously, its not certain thats what is wrong with yours .

My 172 has the same noise but at 70 to 80
