Stuck Window

I got a mk 1 172 2 weeks ago, and when I wound up the window this morning it made some nasty noises, followed by the sound of bits of French plastic falling to the bottom of the door...

Now it goes down but wont go up! Is this a common problem? Is it just a case of taking the door panel off and replacing the cheap parts with some new overpriced but cheaply made parts?

Could only be the plastic retaining clip that is broken, but it is very very likely that you will need the complete window regulator..

I took it all apart and took the two broken pieces of plastic to Renault, and as per your replies above they said the bits of plastic were not available on their own!

"But the rest of it aint broken" I exclaimed as he told me it was nearly £200 for the regulator assembly. Is this for real? Do they seriously not supply the 50p parts that are needed to fix it?

That is disgusting if they dont...

And they charge 1.5 hours to change it - it only took me 15 minutes to take it all apart and work out how it worked!

typical renault mate, most of the time you cant buy a bit of the part you have to pay loads for the whole lot.

happened to mine, went scrapper and paid £35 for 2 regulators because his son was looking after the place and i told him they were £30 each new
does my head in when ren charge for stuff like that
