Stupid question about jacking my 182

  Looking for 182
Hi all,

I've not had my 182 long so I just have a quick question about jacking it. I need to get under the back to sort out my rattling heatshield. I would like to jack the rear of the car to do this as it's a bit tight down there otherwise.

I only have the little jack that came with the car though; and two axle stands.

What is the correct method of getting the rear on the stands with only the standard jack? Do I jack one corner, place axle stand, jack the other corner, place axle stand?

Or do I jack from the middle of the rear jacking beam and place both axle stands either end near the wheels at the same time?

Spanks.

I would go and buy a trolley jack mate.

I wouldn't use the STD jack for either of the above 2 methods and definitely not the 2nd!!!!

At each side one at a time. Put the axle stand under the shock absorber at the back, because the sills are made of cheese.

Yeah I was thinking it might be better to get a trolley jack. Do you just jack in the centre of the beam?

ahh noooo lol use the jacking points where its thicker on the sill with the hole in.same place you would use the standard jack.buy a 20 quid trolley jack if i was you

Erm no - as Budgie says, the jacking points are made of cheese and if you use a trolley jack on them they fold in on themselves. The jacking points barely cope with the standard renault jack!

There's a thread on here somewhere about where to jack the car with a trolley jack, but basically its using the two beams. Jack it from the front and the rear lifts too!

I've jacked mine up using a trolley jack in the centre of the rear beam... 2 wheels at a time baby!!!

If i use a trolley jack on the sills, I always use a bit of rag balled up between the jack and the sill.

Takes the harshness away and stops it bending.
