Iv wired plenty of subs up before but my mates has got me baffled. When the ignition is off there is still power going to the amp :s. Tried 2 different remote cables and it still happens. everything is plugged into the right place (iv tripple checked this).Every thing is wired up as per...What could it be?the sub is brand new also - (Vibe cbr active 10")thanks

It sounds like the "remote" cable is constantly supplying 12V to turn the amp on. Are you Sure the remote wire is wired correctly?? What headunit is it as some you have to change.

thats what it sounds like to me too. make sure you have the remote wire connected to the correct wire on the head unit because if it connected the power feed for the station memmory and clock then it will continuosly feed power to the sub.

  No wheels :(
Also, upon some Head Units, e.g. Alpine you have to manually turn on the function of the Sub :)

In one of the settings...

On most after market units the 'Amp' remote lead is Blue or Blue/White stripe....

Some units have both, (one is remote turn on, one is electric aerial or amplified aerial supply).....

On Sony units the aerial feed generally turns on when the selected source is Radio, and turns off when the selected source is CD or CD changer, (these units will carry a dedicated amp remote)...

The units which carry both will have one running direct into the ISO block, (aerial feed), and one which is simply terminated and left hanging free, (amp remote)....

If you decide to use the aerial feed as a remote turn on source, this can occasionally screw up either radio reception or introduce noise into your system, (classic ground loop issue), in this case either earth all audio to one common grounding point, or switch to alternate remote source......

You fail to state make & model of head unit being used, you also fail to state make, model & year of the car concerned, so I can't really comment on possible cause or possible wiring solution...

Yeh, that could be the earth or the amp is overheating.
Feel the amp if its HOT then its probably the amp going into protect, if not it's the earth, or (the power).

cant see it being the amp as its an active box (vibe cbr) and its nearly new... if it doesn't work il just take it to bits. can't take it back either bought it ages ago just not used it
