Subways V6 - seriously considering it

Ok then guys, i know the poor lad gets some s**t on here and people think he is dreaming on his price he wants for the V6 as stated in his last thread, but i really want it. He mentioned around £14k

As you know, its a black gold 05 Plate with 30k miles on the clock
Full renault service history and 1 years warranty remaining.

The car is a Cat D which was repaired by renault.

The blue V6 which was forsale a few weeks ago was also Cat D but was on 04 plate priced at £11,500. Obviously this had no warranty and was slightly older, but the mileage was less.

I know subway paid next to nothing for his, but this is irrelavent.

So anyways,

What price should i be paying for this car in it current condition?

Has anyone ever seen it in real life and can give me a true opinion on the quality of repairs and the condition of the vehicle?

Any help and opinions would be really appreciated.

Thanks Guys

he paid £8k for the car....then tried to sell it on pistonheads as a non cat-d for about £18k i think...

it was me that posted it on here :rasp: the advert was removed shortly afterwards...ooopsy ;)

far as I know it wasnt repaired by renault though...

Wouldn't buy a car driven buy him, period. Dishonesty isn't a good trait in anybody.

Dishonesty???? please explain for me thankyou

He tried to sell the car before to some guy, but Subway accidentally forgot to tell him it was a CAT D (nothing mentioned in the advert either IIRC) and then came on here harping about how much £ he was going to make on it - unfortunately the sale fell through. Then in between posting about his 1.77 rifle he made a thread about buying a TVR 350C with his sale.

I'm all for making money, but not through misleading people and because of that I'd not touch it simply because the guy can't (IMO) be trusted.

If people are genuinely stupid enough to buy a V6 or any car without an HPi check then there as much of a fool as the seller.

Fair enough everyone is welcome to their opinion matey :)

I have dealt with Subway (Adam) I bought his 172 cup. There was a couple of bits of interior trim missing and he said he will order them and post them to me (Me thinking yeah of course you will!) and low and behold they were on my doormat the following week.
He also went and got me the radio code from the garage he used to take it too.
In my experience Adam has been very trusworthy.

^^ i agree, adam it very trustworthy. I have never had a problems with him.
he helped me many of times. he is a top bloke.

Dont believe what everyone says, some ppl like to jump on the bandwagon and slate ppl for no reason.

im not kissing ass, but ive known him for few years now, and he is a cool dude, down to earth. slighty cocky, but ahh u have to be sometimes :D

I believe this car has had a clean bill of health by Mark Fish. That is good news to me.

£8k seems a fair figure to pay for it.

So if you were selling a car that was CAT D, you wouldn't openly declare it both in the advert and in conversation with the buyer?

Would you also price it for a similar cost to market value and lead people to believe it was indeed straight?

If so, you're a pr1ck too.

Of course I'd do a HPI on any car I'm buying...but I'd also expect the buyer to be honest and up front about such things. The odd stone chip or dint I'll let go...but not telling someone it's been in a serious crash, that my friend is pikey.

@ Benbosh/JLO - I'm not saying the guy is satanic, I'm sure he's nice enough and looking at your experiences you've obviously been done proud. But going on his posts back at the time, his posts were atrocious.

what a c**t

He has a face like a c**t too, tried bulls**tting me before now!

lol, never seen or met him tbh, but anyone that tries to sell a smashed up shed and pass it off as mint or fails to disclose that info is a piece of s**t. Maybe it was a genuine mistake and he forgot, but looking at what's been said that seems unlikely... who knows though

Thing is that type of s**t only serves to get you in bother... maybe it's just me and the people I hang about with, but a few of my mates buy and sell cars on to make some cash, but they are legit... I know however that had they bought something like that, they would be straight back round taking it out on the seller... lol. Dangerous game imo

You can buy a non cat d 255 model one for less than 15k, saw a red one for sale with 30-something k on the clock for 14,995. That was from a car dealer too so you've got some bargaining power.

....Back up! I said if you buy a car...Any car, wasn't bein specific to adam's V6 without doin an HPi then your a plank and you deserve it!

I'm sure you've sold a car without tellin the new buyer every detail...
As for your usual Precocious chat, i'll ignore it.

Ali, what's difficult about addressing the two questions I posed to you?

It's simple, are you honest or dishonest when you sell a car - end of.

Answer 1 - Yes i would obviously declare it - But even if it wasn't listed i'd HPi it any way.

Answer 2 - No, it's unlikely i would price it to a similar market value, but if people will buy it for more than it's worth whilst still bein aware of the catagory status then hats off to them.

Ali and Hoff, try not to make it into an argument between yourselves. I know what The Hoff's saying but also understand what Ali means.

Subway paid approx £8k for it, so anything more than that just wouldn't make sense really. But, if you're really keen, maybe stretch to an extra grand or two and tell him you're doing him a bit of a favour. He makes a profit and you get what will no doubt be a perfectly fine 255 for decent money.

Just don't expect to sell it in a hurry when it comes to that time!

Agree with that.

Although who was it who said Mark Fish had given it the thumbs up?.....Subway I expect!

If everythings straight though you could get a bit of a bargain.

I just wouldn't buy a car which had been crashed. Apart from anything else, I'd be worried I'd never sell it myself - especially as I wouldn't lie about it!
