Such a thing as a good stealth system?!?

  A Real Cup
Right prepare for this one to get long-winded!

I'm currently in the process of looking for a good/great stealth system for my 172 cup. Trouble is, there doesn't seem to be one in existance?!

I have researched into nearly all the possibilities that I am aware of and all of them come up with more than one case of negative feed back!

K-Tec
Powerflow
Prospeed
LongLife or whatever they're called.

I live in the northwest and also can't seem to get one for less than 300 smackeroons. Is this right?

The more response on this the better for everyone but ideally I'd like to hear from people up this way.

Commence the war of words!

I assume you're talking about the exhaust? I hope so otherwise i'm gonna look a right t**t...

Anyway, there are many aftermarket exhaust systems available, none that i can recall known as Stealth system, however, having purchased a exhaust system from Powerflow which comprised of down-pipe back (thats a decat pipe and middle and back) i can safely say that the lifetime warranty and the ability to tailor any design you like, from discreet sleeper to big, bad, lairy and loud, cat or no cat, you can have what ever you want and if it has any problems you can go back and they'll sort it for free...

Also, i'm certain YozzaSport offer a exhaust stealth system.

And £300 for an exhaust seems cheap if it includes cat and the rest backwards...

I faced/am facing the same dilemma myself. The problems with reading peoples opinions of exhausts I've found are:

  • What sounds good or too loud/quiet is down to personal preference.
  • Places that do custom exhausts (Powerflow, Longlife) seem to suffer from varying levels of quality and customer service between their different branches. Some are very good, some are very bad.
I plumped for a K-tec stealth recently, but having it taken off soon as IMO it is too loud/boomy in everyday driving. I chose it after reading it was fairly subtle! Thing is I'm really not into loud exhausts so its prob just my personal preference, and also I did have a sports cat fitted as well which has increased noise I expect (may have been a mistake in retrospect!). On the flipside it does sound lovely when I ring its neck now :) .

I'm booked into Longlife Warrington on Sat. Chose there after speaking to the guy on the phone and getting some postive feedback on here for that branch. Thats my advice - use a branch that has done what you want in the past without problems.

Sorry about waffling on, just I wanted to get my point across ;)

(PS K-tec stealth cat back system will be for sale soon, PM if you like)

Me too, lovely sound.

Started blowing a week ago, thought Mikey big hands might have bodged the fitting, but when we got it up on the ramp, the hanger on the centre section had peeled away leaving a small hole.

I called K-tec yesterday about this.

35 mins ago, a brand new centre section turned up at my warehouse :). I'll get it fitted again by Mike, he passes his cost back to them.

Quality customer service.

i've got a longlife. utter s**t.

i'd rather eat the £320 that i spent on it. Its too loud, the centre pipe was too short so i didn't reach my decat, and it keeps blowing.

Carshalton, if that means anything to you? I've never been to Wallington before myself. IIRC theres a map of the area on the Longlife website

Scratch what I said about going to Longlife Wallington (not that its not got good feedback though, it would of probably been ok for me). I'm gonna go to Pro-speed in Cardiff instead as I'm most confident they can deliver; v. good reputation.

I did mention it was a dillemma  making my mind up is doing my nut!

(Sorry this prob ain't much use for you Si172cup as your up north, just getting my story straight so to speak)

Fred I'd be interested (and I'm sure a fair few others would be) if you did start to offer a stealth back box on your exhaust. Heard only positive feedback about your system but dont want a pipe out the back.

Its fine Balylocks.

I think generally, the more this is discussed the sooner we will see trends in good or bad reviews for the suppliers regardless of where we are all based.

Keep up the good work. My research continues.

it would be a good idea to get sound clips / vids of all the popular zorsts to help people decide..........

then sticky it??:approve:

^^^ Brilliant idea cliobritt! :)

I'm hoping my exhaust doesn't fall apart any time soon, but when it does I'll be looking for a good quality, reasonably quiet, stealth system - I ain't a fan of a pipe sticking out either.

How loud would a yozzasport stealth system be then Fred?

I was thinking I'd probably go for a K-tec stealth system but I'm not sure now after hearing about several people having problems...

K-tec stealth is good....okay, it's not top quality like say the Orbisoud or H & S but it's good value for money.

if theres one near you, head to Powerflow, they will make you a custom stealth system and make it on the car. Okay you will pay a bit more for it, but it will fit perfectly, and sound exactly how you want it to sound (sort of)
