Suitable all round wax or sealant??

Im going to be detailing my car and a couple others in the coming months, so I wanted to get hold of something different to try out.

I currently roll with Dodo Juice Banana Armour, but that isnt really suitable for all colours is it?!

What else can be used?

I was thinking of trying this:
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/werkstat-acrylic-jett-trigger-cat12.html
as this is what Jim used when he detailed the car and seems to be holding up pretty well atm.

Any other suggestions? Nothing too expensive though, as im only a casual detailer ;)

Should I be looking at Waxes or Sealants?? Benefits of using one over the other??
(Id like to bring the colour out on my RB with whatever is chosen aswell)

On RB stay away from sealants mate, you'll lose your "warm" wet, glossy finish that RB is renowned for.

Jeffs works very well compared with out and out sealants so you would be fine using that and it's ease of use, no doubt why Jim picked it is brilliant, JD has used a lot of it aswell although his is the carnuba jett.

I'd go for a wax oh and the dod waxes can be used on any colour, it's all marketing as they freely admit. Are you looking for long term durability or a nice look to last 3/4 months?

Cheers matey. Good bit of info there.

Id prefer to have the finish last the 3/4months on the other peoples' cars, so that its nice for them for longer. But im not so bothered about mine, as ill keep topping it up over time and would like to keep the "glossy finish".
Would I be good to stick with the Dodo for the RB and then maybe go with a sealant with the other cars, so they get the durability?

That sounds ideal mate, if you want a durable wax for other peoples car buy some AGHD it isn't fancy in anyway but it won't ruin a good finish like 476's.

Stick with Dodo, is it a full pot?

Try some vic's after that? £20 for a decent sized pot. 3 months durability and lovely glazed wet look. :)

I'm finishing off my tub of AG HD wax and think it's a good all round performer. fairly simple to use and beading is tight and long lasting. Mine has currently been on for 3 months so far and still providing good protection

Dodo is 80-85% full... I used it on my old Flamer about 4 times, so will last me quite a while yet.

I dont fancy the AGHD tbh, even if it is meant to be quite good. Id rather try something different, I have too many AG products already ;)
What is this Vic's you speak of? Never come across that.

LOL, I spotted that in the 'what have you bought' thread and shook my head. I just can't beleive it can be that good without experiencing it in person before buying.

That's all out commitment!

C2 for other peoples car I'd agree. But not if he wants to bring out the colour of his RB. What are you after Harpham as you seem to mention both

Ha, don't get me wrong that wax will isn't going to make my car look a million times more sparkly than any other car prepped right. But it's a lovely wax and using it, like Glasur you can really feel the effort that went into making it.

So nice to work with. Can leave on for days and come back and still wipe it off with no hassle.

Detailing is fun to me, it's a hobbie and like most hobbies it costs to try new things, look at photography for example. Going to get a pot of Onyx next as my first SV wax.

C2 end thread.
You? Blow me.

I disagree. C2 does not distinguish between colours. Although this is not from personal experience (but it will be on Monday...).

If im sticking with the Dodo for my RB, then im good to pick any for the other cars I do. Although, it would be nice to be able to use on the RB aswell.
Can you link me up with the C2 please, as ive never heard of that either

Would this be a more appropriate Vic's product to use as an all rounder: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/victoria-wax/victoria-collectors-wax-3oz/prod_309.html
The one Yellow Dave mentioned says is for Red and darker paintwork.

No waxes are really colour related mate, it'll look immense on RB imo.

So what we saying then?
Go with the Vic's? If so, then go with the Collectors version or the Concours, or a different one?
Infact f**k it.

Stick with the dodo for now and the money saved put it towards some nice Onyx or something. More suited to flat solid colours.

Treat yourself and your nice car. Maybe even some Zymol Carbon? Nor sure on durability though, Toby will tell you everything you need to know.

So detail all the cars that I have lined up (including mine) with the Dodo, then go with something more expensive like Onyx...
Ive seen a few examples of Swissvax use, seems to give great results.

I dont want to get back into my hardcore(ish) detailing habits yet though, as I finish Uni next month and havent got a job yet, so need to be careful with money ;)

C2 is SOOOO simple to use, 100ml will last ages and anything you don't use layering on the car can be diluted as QD for added protection. Clarity is also V.good. I used it on a silver golf and it still looks good. Seems to have a self cleaning ability as it doesn't hold anywhere near as much dirt as my waxed clio. wash down is also simplified

What it doesn't do is bring out the depth and warmth of a colour as some waxes do, which is what I'm wanting for my LY. C2 will ALWAYS be used on the GF's golf though! As JD has said it doesn't distinguish between colours as it's almost 100% transparent. Best way to describe it on silver was it gave a cold crisp view of the paintwork

You want to be careful with money and do some detailing?

Sorry fella, that just doesn't work. I bought some stone chip paint and wet sanding wet and dry paper last night because I was bored at 12.30am and wanted something to do in the evenings next week...

I have all the stuff I really need already tbh. Just wanted to make sure that I use the right sort of wax/sealant for the various cars.

What im trying to say is, I dont want to spend £50 on some wax before ive secured myself a job ;) ... Once ive got a job, the spending of ridiculous amounts on detailing products can re-commence.
I dont mind spending £20odd on something new. Ill make the pennies back anyway, as ill be charging a small amount for the details.

Indeed Dave. Good description.

I take a lot of pride in my work so I wouldn't put on other peoples cars that I wouldn't put on my own.

I'd use Z2 on other cars for some durability. It'll last 6 months even with 1 layer.

Loler I don't know why I said Onyx it mate, get the vics just now and try it beside the Dodo then use the dodo up on other cars or vice versa. :)

Same. Im a perfectionist and a reason why I wouldnt buy the AGHD Wax is because I dont want to use it on my own car.

Lol, cheers. Ill give the Vics a try then and see where that takes me. Might look at the C2 at some point aswell, as that is pretty cheapass.

Thanks for the info everyone!!

for £15 C2 is top shelf in my opinion (limited experience mind)

for my car through summer it'll be waxed, through winter and everyone elses cars that I ever do all year round it'll be C2

C2 is now my choice as I won't have the means or the time to wash the car in London. So a slippery finish that can be pressure washed down at the nearest petrol station will be my only option.

That and ONR.

You finally succumbed to ONR then!!

Reviving my old thread here... Are there any waxes/sealants on i4detailing that would be good to use on most cars?
Im putting an order in there, so might aswell try and just order from one company if I can.

(I was going to go with the Vics Wax btw).

Zaino Z2 or Z3 any good to use?

We'll go with cheaper stuff to start with, say >£20. The Vic's stuff I want to try is £18 delivered on CYC, so keeping it around that sort of price.

I already have my main wax to use. This is for other people's cars.

What is that like in comparison to Vics?
(Just from looking at it, it looks alot cheaper and more Halfrauds like than the Vics stuff, if that makes sense)

No idea, Valet Pro is a good make though so i would think its not too bad.

Gally and JD will probs be back in soon.

FK1000p isnt a bad idea as you can do peoples wheels with it aswell altough you will run out quick.

Ive only used it once up to yet, as I got it just before I got rid of the 172. It was also the first time ive used any sort of protective product on my wheels. I was impressed though.
Made them so much easier to clean up and looked alot better from it. Seemed quite durable aswell from what I remember.
(I cant really go into much detail, as I dont know what the other brands are like so have nothing to compare to).

Ill be using it again next weekend when I give my car a much needed full detail. Wheels off. Boom.
