Sunroof and window queries...

I'm going to swap the windows from electric to manual and the sunroof from electric to manual to save weight.

1) Are the Mk1 runners the same as the Mk2? Struggling to find manual Mk2 runners (Handle needs to be in the same place too, obviously)

2) Do I need the sunroof frame from a manual sunroof or will it fit on the electric frame once the glass, motor and sliders etc ar out of the way?

3) Has anyone got a manual sunroof and a pair of manual window mechanisms?

The manual sunroof opens differently to the electric one, it just lifts up as opposed to sliding right back. So i guess you need the whole lot.

I know about how it opens, thought maybe that the sliders for the electric one unbolted maybe? *shrugs* lol

No joy, it only says about removal of manual version, but not the frame, and for the electric version it states 'it is a complex piece of equipment, its advisable you not disturb it'

I'll get a manual one and just take bits off then, If I cant do it, Ill just place the glass in over night until I can buy the frame too, lol. Cheers for the help dude!!

Perspex would be lighter in the sunroof lol. I'm probably contributing useless info....but just a thought.

I want to replace the roof skin ideally, but I R skint.... Perspex will look ghetto though I think. I'll take the sunroof out and have a look at the surround, see what I can do....


You have black perspex, right?

Perspex would only look ghetto if done "gashly"...no harm in seeing what it would look like IMO.

Dude, the CNC will cut as big at 600x1200.....so you'd be reet

Planned to take it all to bits today. But had a f**king nightmare fixing Renaults SHITTY bodgejob on the bonnet catch. Had top take the bumper off to release the bonnet! Next weekend! lol....

It's a date....

They said the bonnet catch was snapped. Lying c***s, wasnt snapped at all, they just couldnt get it back open cos they fucked the catch, and cable tied the cabke into it. Mint.

Recall for a bonnet catch, except we'll just get your bonnet stuck and say the cable is snapped so we can panic and try and get it open when you come in for a new cable.
