Super Turismo’s on a 1996 1.4RT

I know this is supposed to be a ClioSport forum, but I was wondering if 17" OZ Super Turismos would fit on a 1996 1.4RT?
What work would need to be done if they wont fit straight away? (Arches rolled, etc...)
Any help would be appreciated!

they are

you will struggle to get 17s on mate and you wont be able to lower it

ive seen the bigger mark II clio on 17s an they can look big in certain styles, 16s will be fine

Hi mate as Brun said you will be able to get them on there but it will also bugger up ur bearings and the rest of ur car.

Yeah Ive been wondering this aswell.
My Clio is the face-lift version and when I bought it, it had already been lowered.
I havent got a clue by how much its been lowered by as im not 100% au fait with cars an modifications.
Ive been wondering what size alloys I could get as most of the styles I want start in 15s.

Can any of you help?

you can get 17s on and lower it and your bearings will be fine as long as you dont drive it to hard into corners.
ive got 17 and its lowered 40 at the back and 35 at the front.
just ake sure you get the correct offset and the new falken tyres wich slant away from te arch.
good luck

OK - so 17s might be a little ambitious (although it seems there are conflicting views on that...) but arent 15s going to look tiny with low profile tires?!

Juss,

Did you have to do any arch work to get the 17s on? and also, Can you carry people in the back still?

As you might have noticed from the General Discussion Forum, Ive been swaying between 15s, 16s with 195/45/16 Tyres and 17s with 205/40/17 for ages.

I want to be able to use my car as I do now... and that includes carrying passengers.

Thanks,
Daz.

well as brun said the main difference is it slows you down. passangers are ok if at standard ride height but mine is lowered and i can just about get 1 light person in the back and it scrapes a bit over bumps.
i had to do no arch work at standard height but i have now cut the arch lip of.
offset: very important, when i take my wheels of next ill tell you what i got.

So 15s with 195/50 should go on easy?

Ive got steels that are 13s on at the mo and to be honest there isnt a lot of room on the front between the tyre and the bumber for turning (about an inch and half).

Plus how do I find out how much its been lowered by so I get a better idea on what size I can go up to?

Sorry if these are stupid questions Im just not 100% when it comes to things like this.

bestting to do ate would be go to your nearest tyre/wheel shop and ask to try soe on, or borrow some off a mate.tats what i did

I have been looking for some alloys for ages.. (Just ask Louise, thats all she hears from me. Hehe).

Anyways, If I could get 17s on it would be great... but as I say, I still need to be able to carry people in the back.

Reckon I could try some on... dunno if my local wheel place would let me though.

Ryan go with 195/45 tyres

you would definitely need arch work to fit 17s on......and even then i doubt you could be 4 up

and you would need rubber band tyres.....hit a pot hole and your knackered

Brun

I was after something smaller. Prob a 15. I work in Hackney and have to drive about the area a bit so Ive got two things to think of.
1. Pot holes the size of moon crators
and
2. Car thiefs (and loads of em!)

I was thinking about trying to get some standard 16valve alloys (not too flash but still look good). How much can you lower it by with them on?

I went to a wheel place and they didnt wanna know when I asked to try a wheel for size and I aint really got any mates who have got the size alloy I wanna test so really its down to the advise from you lot.

Cheers

Ryan

Sorry just read back thu..

Brun did you mean 15s with 195/45 tyres?

yea mate......or if you have 16s go for 195/45/16

those wheels on my pic are some refurbed Clio 16v phase 1s.....15s

my mate is selling his phase 2s which have brand new 195/45 tyres, really good michelins......they dont half stick to the road

with 15s and 195/45 tyres, i cant see 50mm being a problem.......after that im not sure.......the back would probably go 60mm

but if your dodgin pot holes dont go too low as you will need a bit of shock left wont ya

mines on a Bilstein Streetline kit btw
