Wouldn't it need aftermarket management, losing tc?maz172cup said:if its a 182 with traction it shudnt wheelspin - but saying that, i driven a mk1 golf with a S3 lump and it was wheelspining on 5th gear
so is grip not as good then? or just the same?
Id do it, bought my 13 year old Ek9 with a charger on it and ive never had so much fun in a car in my life !!
Yeah, I'll pop over there too and tell them it's stupid as well if you want? That it's only a s**tty old Ford.
Theres some right boring people on here. You'd think it was a over 40's dads forum the way some folk talk where modding a Clio's concerned...
The enjoyment in modding cars for me is doing it myself, getting my hands dirty and seeing the outcome of my own hard work.
Not really. I'm all for modding Clios, just not spending 4k on the engine of one. 20, no kids FYI.
I "dare" you to
well iv driven the car with bodies and with charger. it seemed to be able to spin the wheels easier with the bodies than it does the charger.
so id say its about the same as standard tbh. but better with charger than bodies.
If you will have the money and you like the Clio then go for it.
I've driven a 300bhp Focus ST and didn't think it was all that - you sit too high in it, and it just feels too big and heavy. Yes it is quick once moving in a straight line, but it's almost too smooth - so lacking in excitement for me.
MEG R26 gets good reviews, but still going to be bigger then a 182 so don't think you'd feel like you were going as quick as you would in the 182 (once supercharged)
Foucs RS mk 1 not a bad idea especially if going on track - bit smaller then the others and they look awesome. Only had a quick drive of one and the main thing I noticed was how aggressive the diff was.
I had a VX220 2.2 (non turbo) and it was just an experience everytime I went out in it - I'd have the roof off however cold it was as long as nothing was falling from the sky. It's much quicker off the line then the 182 (I had one just before it) due to the awesome traction off the line, but on a dual carriageway there was very little in it compared to my mates 172 cup. If you could afford a turbo, or pick up a supercharged VX 2.2 (there are a few appearing now) it'd be a great car. Don't think they're that hard to live with, I drove mine all winter - just the heater is weak.
Personally I'm looking at selling my Cooper S and get an MX5 (mk 2 1.8) and either turbo or supercharge it for track work next year. Fcuk the image, I'll just take the abuse from mates for the rear wheel drive and convertible aspect.
i take it you dont like FWD then??
No i haven't, but id hazard a guess and say that its still a very accomplished & predictable FWD car, just with extra wheelspin & power?
so is grip not as good then? or just the same?
The OP needs to experience a good rwd car, like a £8k Elise or M3, then consider whether a Clio 182, even one with a £4k supercharger, will give the same level of involvement.
Also @Whiteley, I'd rather pay the £4k to have it fitted as the parts costs isn't far off that anyway (+mapping which you need anyway) Why do it yourself when its virtually a free fitting cost!
I love FWD, & can probably peddle far quicker in it, but RWD offers a far greater challenge for me. As such i find it considerably more rewarding when looking for that ultimate drive.

Although tbh, i think his mind is already made up

Hahahah loved the comment @ 4:40!!
I just don't see the point/fun in a more powerful Clio. I'd rather learn to drive the thing fast, the straights are no fun even in a powerful car. Great for pub talk, but it won't make the car more fun
No fella. But it would have to be a biblical improvment to convince me it was worth £4k. It won't improve the handling, and that's where my priorities lie.Have you driven a Super/Turbo Charged Clio?
What if you already know how to drive fast?
No fella. But it would have to be a biblical improvment to convince me it was worth £4k. It won't improve the handling, and that's where my priorities lie.
And it would be naive for me to ever consider that my driving couldn't be improved.
