He wants 17s thats his choice.
Not exactly a sheep thing. It's fact that lighter wheels improves handling, acceleration and deceleration.
But if you like them then fair doos!

Don't know why people knock 17's! They're better than 16's imo! I ran them back to back around knockhill. There was no difference in times and i just preferred the turn in on the 17's bit lazier, but far more balanced!
ok thanks for that, i must remember not to come in my pants everytime i go out for a drive

Maybe its the (on average) 50% extra tyre cost. I've never driven on 17's so can't really comment, but id be fairly confident that they don't command a premium over 15"!
15's suit the clio better as well I reckon. Nice motor in the OP though!
My car handles like it's on rails dont know where you get your info from must be someone down at McDonalds, I'll gladly take out anyone so they can see for themselves, around the b roads the car stays nice and flat hardly any body roll no torque steer just goes where you want it to,that's what you get when it's set up right!!!!!Get some B14s far better coilover and no harsher on the road then K-Tecs crapage. Not bad for 300 notes but you've spent out on the rest of the car so..
Oh and for the record I'd lose the wheels too it must feel like driving a death trap with that suspension lol

"16 and 15's are better"
Not if you have real brakes they're not.

The car handles great on 17s you just need to get it set up right
The contact patch is the tyre width nothing to do with how big the rim isHow can a standard 15" rim possible stop a car quicker? the contact patch is far less.

Did you try PM'in me y'day?
Try braking heavily on a road that's anything but a perfect, smooth surface. Then tell me 17's are better. lol.
Had them on my 172 and they lasted a month.
You had APEX springs on that 172!! hardly fair! And the roads are so shagged now a days that tramlining is the least of your worries.
If you're worried about 17's, try CSL's then!!! Fairy!

Yes, because comparing two separate cars and wheel sizes totally validates your point.
And it had standard springs on when I first had the 17's.

So comparing 15" road tyres and 16-17" road tyres and 7.5" rim to a old clio cup race car with wider track / wheels and slicks... good points as usual.
The 15s they use are the same width as a standard 2118 wheel. You can get 17" slicks so I'm sure if they were that great they would've been running themSo comparing 15" road tyres and 16-17" road tyres and 7.5" rim to a old clio cup race car with wider track / wheels and slicks... good points as usual.
Did you notice any change in performance? Here's a few pics of my sc cup before i put my white 15" 1.2's on.
